Series 1700 & 1750

1700

Over the past several years ultrasonic proximity sensors have become an increasing popular answer to solving many non-contact sensing and measurement applications. Unfortunately, many ultrasonic manufacturers have fallen short in providing durable, versatile, high performance designs that are also cost effective solutions for many applications.

With the introduction of the SonaSwitch® 1700/1750, EDP Company has changed all that.

In designing the 1700/1750, we started with 4 basic goals in mind:

  • Durability
  • Versatility
  • High Performance
  • Reasonable Price
  • After years of design, development and testing (and more testing) the microprocessor based SonaSwitch® 1700/1750 was born and our goals were achieved.

    Durability
We designed the 1700/1750 with ruggedness in mind. The 304 stainless steel body and end plates, polymer sealed transducer and fully encapsulated electronics offer exceptional durability in even the harshest environments.

    Versatility & Performance
The SonaSwitch® 1700/1750 offers a wide array of features not found on other sensors in its price range:

  • Ultra wide operating range: 1” to 20” Model 1700, 1” to 30” Model 1750
  • Two (2) NPN switched outputs, fully independent
  • 0-5 VDC dual slope analog output with a programmable filter constant; Model 1750 has additional 4-20 MA loop output.
  • Echo pulse-width output • Programmable astable or external triggered operation
  • Gate control
  • Analog output inverting control
  • Non-volatile memory to sore desired calibration
  • RS-232 serial port for uploading, downloading, programming and monitoring of the 1700/1750
  • All inputs/outputs protected against ESD and short circuit to power or ground.
  • The 1700/1750 may be used as a stand alone sensor by setting switch points and analog output with the rear mounted push buttons or coupled with our use friendly, menu driven DOS PC calibration software (included at no additional charge). The user can calibrate 100s of transmit, receive and output functions via the RS-232 serial port. The calibration software also allows monitoring of key sensor operating parameters and the programming of the non-volatile memory in the 1700/1750 to retain a desired calibration without bothersome battery backup.

    Value Versus Price
Even with all its advanced features and performance, EDP is able to offer the SonaSwitch®1700/1750 at a surprisingly low price. We are able to do this by utilizing modern automated manufacturing techniques and surface mount technology to keep our production costs as low as possible.

We invite you to compare the SonaSwitch® 1700/1750 to any other ultrasonic sensor in its class. We are confident you will find the 1700/1750 to be the most rugged, versatile, high performance value sensor in the industry.
